Bicycling whips those leg muscles into shape. For muscular endurance, stick to a flat terrain, but adjust the speed of the bike as your drive improves. To avoid cramping, stretch fully before and after each bike ride.

Bicycling increases your balance. Studying to ride a bike is all about staying upright. To do that, you have to find a equilibrium in the middle of your body and the bike. Maintaining that equilibrium strengthens the core muscles of the abdominal region. Tightening the core muscles keeps you from falling off of the bike. The lower abdominals pull your legs back towards you body from the bottom of the cycling revolution. The lower back is also kept pain free by a strong balanced core.

It's also great way to issue your stress from daily work either if you work at home or have a quarterly job. You can do it inside the house with an rehearsal bike, but also you can take your bike out and enjoy nature. Families, friends, can share the touch which can help you be together and give the opportunity to impart with each other. I believe that we as families, friends, have to look for coarse grounds to share with each other as we do with friends. Feeling good with yourself and with your loved ones, is one of the many benefits you can get from this exercise.

Bike heal and Maintenance

Tires: If they had been flat for some time and look broken, consider changing for new ones. If the tire is all right consider changing the tire tubes. Before buying them check on the side of the tire its number. For example 20 x 1.50

Seat: Seat must be acceptable in size for you and comfortable. consider cushioned seats.

Safety: Check that the bike has lights and reflectors to guidance others you are on your way. consider installing a bell or a horn to let others know you are captivating through.

Want a Chopper? Build Your Own!

Motorcycle chopper kits are a increase industry. But what does that mean to you and me? Well one thing that we know is that we will have more choppers to ogle at. There is not a single day that goes by without more and more pictures of chopper bikes that have just been closed showing up in all the bike magazines. Then at the weekends, when we are on our "hot" rides, we will see four or five show conclude level bikes. There are more choppers nearby now than there have been in the last twenty five years.

Most of these choppers have been built from bike chopper kits, the "bike in a box" approach. But hey, don't knock it! building your own chopper has never been easier. There are rolling chassis kits, perfect bike kits, and frame manufacturers give you a multitude of choice when it comes to take the plunge and buy a bike chopper kit.

The Tricycle

Thirty years ago, the old school chopper builders had to start with a stock bike off-the-shelf and admittedly chop it to pieces. With the contemporary chopper kits, there is a viable alternative to taking the cutting torch to your favorite soft tail!

Nowadays, you have a cheap and easier way to build the bike from the ground up. When you take the cost of buying a new bike and the price of chopping it, it works out much economy to start from step one, and your chopper kit. Instead of tossing away the parts that you'll never use again, you can start building your own bike with the parts that you admittedly need. All the parts are included in the bike chopper kit, along with whole instructions.

One of the first questions that citizen ask when considering buying a kit is how will my bike stand outs from all the other chopper kits? Well think of it this way, you are going to buy a chopper kit. A pile of unassembled raw metal. No paint, no real finish, just a blank canvas. Is your taste in paint jobs likely to be the same as the next guy, who buys the very same kit? I don't think so. What about your taste in bolt-ons, seats, exhausts? Just because you buy the kit doesn't mean every dinky thing has to be just so. That is the whole point isn't it? It's very easy in this way to build your own convention chopper from a chopper kit.

Another big request is, "How long"? The reply to that is as long as it takes. Even on the kit bikes, which are supposed to be designed to fit together like a glove, you are going to run into some snags. It can't be avoided!

If you want a more concrete guide, try this. An experienced kit constructor (though not a professional) I spoke to reckons it took 10 full days to build his last chopper from a kit. For man less experienced it could take a join of days longer. Twelve 9 hour days works out at 108 hours. Over evenings and weekends, this could drag out to three or four weeks of living in a pile of bike parts! So be prepared to admittedly live the perceive if you are going to take the plunge.

What about the practical side? Well, there is no substitute for experience. The place to start building up your perceive with the mechanical side of building to kit bike is with your current ride. Make sure all you can do the basic maintenance on your motorcycle, and then start to do some uncomplicated disassembling. Take off the tires, take off the exhaust, real basic stuff; all of this will help to build a new confidence in the shop side of things. You can also get some great videos on maintenance, and even on building the convention bike of your dreams. Read the books, watch the videos, and buy the t-shirt! Believe me, all the preparing you make will stand you in good stead.

If you admittedly are hopeless at the mechanical side of things, why not pay man else to help you build it, or even get them to build the whole thing for you? The cost of the kit plus labor could well work out economy than buying a chopper "off the shelf".

And of course, when that gorgeous chopper is standing on your driveway, and your friends are request you "Was it worth it?" you can turn to the chopper, drag your hand across the flames on the tank and the polished chrome, turn back to them and say, "What do you think?"

Bike Riding for Weight Loss - Tips for starting A Bicycling Plan

If you are one of those habitancy who unhurried pedal nearby the block or over a flat stretch of scenic road, you've probably been riding for sheer pleasure. Riding bikes for pleasure is a good form of aerobic exercise. But unless you map out a plan to "push yourself," you probably won't lose much weight.

I assuredly get sick of hearing habitancy say, "No pain, no gain!" But the old adage is true when it comes to riding bikes to lose weight. By pushing your cycling distance or speed, you are sure to feel some pain in your leg muscles, your hands, wrists, and your derriere-- even some pain in your throat and lungs as your body tries to adapt your increased demand for oxygen.

Health Tip: Stretching exercises prior to exercising are helpful in preventing injury!

A fascinating read for any cycling enthusiast or historian of the sport, it also contains much information that is still useful and practical to today’s cyclist. Detailed instructions are accompanied by black and white illustrations. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork.

Getting Your bike Ready...To Roll Off The Weight

Your first concern will be outfitting your bicycle. If you need an excuse to purchase a new bike, this is an perfect opportunity! I went from a 3-speed bike for leisure riding, to a 24-speed bike for more committed exercising. Once I learned how the different gears worked, I was very thankful for the extra speeds. They make my ride faster and the hills a lot easier to handle.

We've found the guys at the bike shop to be very helpful, and concerned for our unique cycling needs. Rather than simply steering us toward the most high-priced bike ready (as I had expected), they asked how much riding we would be doing, either we were trying for speed or leisure, and either we would be riding on paved roads or dirt trails. When you assuredly share your goals and level of experience, the sales clerks can match you with exactly what you need. They want you to be prosperous in your biking venture!

Some state laws need bike lights. But if you will be riding anytime from dusk to dawn, common sense demands that you have lights on your bicycle. These tiny accessories are battery-operated and last a long time. There are a variety of lights to pick from. My tail light has different blinking speeds, and is designed to make my bike visible to cars approaching from both the rear and the sides. Check for brightness before you buy one. Install the light where it makes the most sense.

We held off on buying a speedometer and odometer unit for our bikes, but once we got serious about losing weight and getting in shape, this highlight became a "must have." You simply cannot track your develop without knowing how far and how fast you're riding.

If you already have a bicycle, take it to the bike shop for a safety inspection each season. They should check the gears, tires and brakes to make sure all things is working properly. They can adjust your seat to fit your height and adjust the handlebars to fit your reach, making your ride more comfortable. If you're lucky, they might even clean and polish your bike!

If you want to save money in the long run, you can find books and videos that teach you how to care for your own bicycle. It's always a great idea to know how to change your own flat tire and adjust a loose chain.

Another must have is a bike pump. Ask your bike dealer how many pounds of air pressure to put in your bike tires. Check the tires each time you get ready to ride! We guessed at the air pressure one summer day, and lived to regret it. We rode the bikes to the swimming pool, not realizing that one tire was too full. While we were cooling off in the water, the hot sun was rapidly increasing the air in the tires-one tire blew as it sat in the parking lot. The day in the sun was not so fun, once the pool closed and we had to wait for a truck to haul us home!

Health Tip: Talk with your physician first, and get his or her blessing before you increase your rate of bodily activity!

Staying Comfortable On Your Bike

Sitting for long periods of time on a bike seat can cause pain, discomfort, and even serious blood circulation problems in avid bicyclists. At your local bike shop, you'll find a variety of bike seats made specifically for your relieve and health. The salespeople at our local bike shop encouraged us to try out new seats on our bikes for a few days. My husband found the split seat to be more comfortable for himself, while I opted to keep my old gel seat. man has even invented seats that look more like a bird perch than a bike seat!

Health Tip: Get off your bike seat and walk nearby every 25 minutes or so to get the blood flow to leading unmentionable parts of your body.

Think about your clothing...you don't have to have padded biker shorts and extra clothing to start riding bikes. There are assuredly scientifically engineered fabrics designed to pull sweat away from your body in the summer and to keep you from getting hypothermia in the winter. But for now, just wear layers of comfortable sports clothes.

Make sure your clothes aren't so tight that you are miserable trying to pedal. But they shouldn't be loose sufficient to come to be entangled in the bike chain, either! If you come to be overheated, strip off a layer. If you get cold, add a layer. Wear light or enchanting colors to allow drivers to see you easily.

It assuredly helps to have a small cargo rack on the back of your bike. Mine looks like a tiny shelf over the back tire. It has two bungee cords to keep any cargo securely fastened to the bike. I've used it to tote a small picnic cooler, a shopping bag or extra clothes.

I had the bike shop attach a water bottle owner to the bike under my seat. I can grab a quick swig as I ride or pour some water over my pulse points to cool off a bit. Take small sips of water when needed while your bike ride, rather than chugging huge gulps.

A helmet is almost a must. Life is filled with hazards-and biking has its share. Be smart. Wear a helmet. You can buy a cool rear-view mirror for your helmet. The mirror helps you see when it's safe to turn and lets you observe traffic arrival up from behind.

I recommend wearing sunglasses-both for the sun and for bugs! At sure times of the year, the air is thick with flying insects. Getting a tiny bug in your eye is a painful event. For palpate wearers, carry a palpate case and lens cleaner on bike rides for just that reason. Some day you'll be glad you did!

Health Tip: Shake your hands downward frequently to get the blood flowing and to prevent pain or numbness in your arms and hands.

Mapping Out A Weight Loss Plan

You will want to keep a record of your daily diet and food intake, your weekly body measurements and weight, as well as your bicycling miles and time.

The web site http://www.OpenFitness.net is an perfect way to track your progress. It is very easy to use-simply type in your facts you wish to track. As the only community fitness web site of its kind, you'll find it to be a fabulous motivation tool that will print out charts and graphs to show how much develop you've made in a few days, a week, or a month!

It keeps track of your food, vitamin, and supplement intake. Thousands of foods have already been analyzed by experts for amount of calories, fat, carbs, and protein. You simply go for the foods you ate from a pull down feature, and the daily total is tallied for you. Make sure you don't rehearsal when you've just eaten, or when it's almost meal time. Both times will slow you down.

No matter how humiliating it is, measure your arms, legs, chest, waist, neck, hips and thighs once a week. The software keeps track of your weight and body measurements. The thrill of looking those same inches melt away in the arrival weeks will be worth the effort. It's especially impressive seen as a graph!

Consider investing in an instrument that assuredly measures body fat-there are cheap pincer-type instruments that measure fat by pinching you, or buy a set of bathroom scales that cost more but suspect body fat quite painlessly.

Try to ride 4-6 days per week. When you map out your weight loss plan, your short-term goals will change as you change. You'll quickly make endurance for longer distance. As fat turns to muscle, your speed will increase. Each week, try to increase either your mileage or your speed.

You know how far you've been able to ride, thus far. Start retention track of the exact route you are taking, the total mileage, and the distance of time it took you. Make notes in your records for extra circumstances. Did it get dark surface so you were forced to cut your ride short? Did the road crews dump a layer of gravel on your ordinarily paved road?

What was the weather like? Was it dangerously hot? Was it windy? The wind can be your friend or your enemy. When the wind is behind you, your ride is a breeze...but arrival from any other direction, be ready to huff and puff. Accept any distance of time as a job well done and simply get the ride accomplished!

Finally, add an upper body workout three times per week. Bicycling works your legs, but to get the rest of your body firm and trim, you'll need to rehearsal your upper body, as well. The http://www.openfitness.net web site, created by a certified personal fitness trainer, has perfect features which allow you to make and track this measure of your fitness program, as well.

Bicycle riding is a fun, cheap form of aerobic exercise-it's good for every part of you. But be warned-you will need to buy a whole new wardrobe for the thinner, more beautifully fit body that emerges!

Reinventing the Wheel Qingdao, China

Reinventing the Wheel Qingdao, China Video Clips. Duration : 1.87 Mins.

If you're looking for a new, hip way to get around look no further. One Chinese man has invented a new bike that is sure to, well, make you laugh. Who says the wheel is round? Retired Chinese military officer Guan Baihua has created an edgy version of the traditional bicycle wheel. He's even patented his new design, in case it catches on. Guan had been mulling over the idea for years, until inspiration came quite unexpectedly. [Guan Baihua, Bicycle Inventor]: "I started thinking, can I invent a bike with a non-circular wheel? But I did not believe that I could actually do it until the end of 2006, one day I was watching television and rolling a triangular pencil and I discovered that though I was rolling it I couldn't feel my hand bumping up and down. So I started to work out how to put the shape and the bicycle together." Unlike circular wheels, these wheels have no set radius. Instead they have an unchanging diameter, so as they turn, the wheels remain at a constant height. The cyclist is protected from a bumpy ride by pivoting joints which keep the frame separate from the jolting wheels. Pushing the triangular and pentagonal wheels along the road is hard work so its fastest speed is still only a brisk walking pace. And it can be a wobbly take-off. But that doesn't deter people from trying. [Deng Xiuli, Qingdao Resident]: "I thought it looked strange with these shapes and at first I couldn't handle it but then the more you ride it becomes quite smooth, its fun." After ...
